Elevating the conversation: addressing inclusive hygiene in public restroom

On June 25, 2024, the Tork brand – alongside the Global Handwashing Partnership (GHP) – is bringing together expert voices for a thought-provoking discussion about inclusive hygiene in public restrooms. What does it mean for the millions of Americans who face barriers to accessing public restrooms? What barriers – invisible and visible – need to be eliminated so that all, regardless of conditions or abilities, concerns or stages of life can pursue proper hygiene in the public restroom? What change can we collectively enact?

Hosted at the GHP’s Washington, D.C. headquarters and moderated by Amy Bellcourt, VP of Communications for Essity, the roundtable discussion will feature three keynotes:
  • Dr. Chukwuemeka V. Chukwuemeka, START Innovator (Spatial and Behavioral Designer) Princeton Entrepreneurship Council, Princeton University on design thinking
  • Dr. Steven Soifer, Adjunct Professor, Adelphi University, American Restroom Association, International Paruresis Association on the barriers to access
  • Amie Kromis, director of DE&I for Essity North America on new global research exploring consumer and business perceptions and preferences around the public and workplace restroom

Additional participants represent both public and private-sector organizations including government, healthcare, academia, policy and advocacy. The Tork brand is honored to convene this group of experts and collectively work toward greater understanding and change. Our goal is to create comfortable access to public restrooms for as many people as possible. Join the conversation online with #inclusivehygiene
